 1) Facebook has over 500 million active (users who have returned to the site in the last 30 days). 2) 50% of our active users log on to Facebook in any given day. 3) Average user has 130 friends. 4) People spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook. 5) There are over 900 million objects that people interact with (pages, groups, events and community pages). 6) There are more than 200 million active users currently accessing Facebook through their mobile devices. 7) 44.1% of Denmark has an active Facebook profile. 8) Facebook is a social network service and website launched in February 2004 that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc. 9) More than 2.5 billion pictures are uploaded to Facebook each month. 10) In 2003, Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg created Facemash, where he placed photos of undergraduates side by side so viewers could rank which one was “hotter.” Zuckerberg would later turn Facemash into the now ubiquitous Facebook. 11) Syria, China, Vietnam, and Iran have banned Facebook. 12) In December 2009, there were over 250 million active users on Facebook, up from 1 million active users in December 2004. |
